Just curious if anyone else is going to the Fabulous Fords Car Show at Knotts Berry Farm this Sunday. My wife had to pick vacation time at work so she planned her time off around the show. She gets a vacation but I had to work to be sure it was ready.
We made the trip down from Big Pine, CA with our 1912 Speedster. Just wondered if anyone else was going to be there.
That show is a rip off. If you want to look at Mustangs, go for it. I drove my T there a couple of times, and spend a day cleaning it up, and they charged me a fortune to enter it. They should pay me for the opportunity to show it there.
The best years to go are the ones where the T is one of the featured models. You then get to park on the grass instead of hot asphalt. It's been ten years since I last entered.
Please don't let the old T-tightwads discourage you, Steve... You will have a great time, and you will no doubt be parked with the other Ts. Get there early, just in case.. It may be more convenient to leave the trailer at your hotel, and drive to Knotts. The trailer lot fills up with show queen haulers.

Thanks, Ricks! I really appreciate your kind words!
My wife, who happens to love my Model T as much as I do (I know, I'm lucky), was actually the one who found the Fabulous Fords show and was, surprisingly, able to get the time off work. She put the word out and now our whole family is coming our to the show - to us, that's really what our T is about.
We've both invested a lot of time, money and energy into getting the vehicle up and running after it hadn't run for over 20 years so we are looking forward to showing others our vehicle and seeing them get as excited about it as we are.
The car is all original, including the paint, with the exception of the seats, carb and replacement of the Rocky Mountain brakes, from when it was built by the original owner in the 1950's so we're under no misconception about getting any awards or trophies - we are just trying to show off a vehicle that we're very proud of, spend some time with the family and, maybe, spark an interest in a couple new people who may never have been exposed to original Fords (maybe even convert a few Mustang fans).
If any of you do attend, please drop by and say hi - we'd love to meet you face to face!!! Have a great day!
Steve: It's good to know that you and your wife are having fun with your Speedster. I have attended the Knott's show many times over the years. We've only taken the Pantera and (sorry for this one) Ford Probe. Yes it can get hot in that parking lot... but there are many rare Fords, Lincolns and Mercurys that you won't see anywhere else. Just skip the Mustang section.
In looking through my photos from last year, I found this one of the Knott's family Model T which had recently been refreshed:
I've always had a great time at FFF when displaying my Model T the past five years. The cars sparks a lot of interest and I end up answering so many questions that I have little time to see all the other cars. One special moment was when a couple from Melbourne, Australia recognized the ACT (Australian Capital Territory) plates on my T. They got a big kick out of it and I did too as they were the first to recognize the plates in over 15 years!
My centerdoor is the just behind the C-cab in Gene's photo.
Bill - Thanks again for my first driving lesson in your Speedster (that you recently sold, I believe)! My driving still leaves a bit to be desired but I'm getting around pretty well in the Model T and Ill be driving it to the show from Anaheim. I will, of course, have a 1956 Ford Truck as a tail car just in case which makes it nice.
David - Glad to hear you enjoy the show as well! Hope to see you there if you plan on attending this year. It's always nice to meet some friendly folks from the forum!!!
Spent the day polishing brass and tuning the carb for the altitude changes - took it for a nice drive and it'd running pretty well.
So, how did the show go? Any photos? I couldn't make it
The show went great! We're in the process of packing up to go home tomorrow but I will post info and pictures tomorrow night. Steve
