There is a group of 21 British sports cars from Europe (three from Switzerland, one from the UK and the rest from Holland) driving from New York to Los Angeles. Now that they have passed Chicago, they are following Old Route 66 as much as possible. There are 11 Healeys, eight Morgans, and one each MG and Triumph.
Anja and I drove down to their hotel yesterday evening to welcome them and ended up having dinner with three Morgan couples. The reason for that is that I had seen that one of the Morgan drivers, Jos vd Gracht, lives in the village of Den Hoorn, on the island of Texel. Anja's grandfather (and at least four generations before him) was born in Den Hoorn, she still has cousins there, and her parents had a vacation house there for at least 30 years. She spent all her summers in Den Hoorn as a child, and she and I went there often before we moved to the States. It was amazing how many people Anja and Jos knew in common, including her two cousins.
