Today is this 1912 touring cars 100th birthday. We decided to celebrate by taking it for a ride today. (Even though it was a little chilly). The guy who owns this also owns motorcycles, so I will post a different thread for that.
Oh . . . my . . . God . . . what a lovely patina! That's more than a car; it's a rolling piece of history. I am full of envy, but I will hide it!
Happy Birthday Lizzy. Great picture.
Thanks
Joe, you must reside in the frozen tundra. Our redbuds here finished blooming a couple of weeks ago.
That's one swell car.
Beautiful T, beautiful background. That setting reminds me of a water utility park I used to work at.
This rode was the owner private driveway it is a 488 acre farm all inclosed with 8ft fence and only one way in. I saw it from the river on jet ski's and thought it would be a great place for pictures of my T with all the old out buildings and big oak trees. He was a little grumpy at first when I knocked on his door, he thought I was selling or wanting to buy his place. Then I told him all I wanted was to take pictures of my T at his place and that is all it took, here he had one that had not run since 85' I looked at and cranked it over told him I would have it running in 1/2 an hour, he laugh! 22 minutes later it was running, he told me the time! and the rest is history!
Great story Joe!!
A couple years ago I added an electric starter to the car, some people did not like that ideal while I was doing that for him but he has driven it now more in the last two years than in the fifty years he has owned the car.
Great pictures Joe!
Sounds like you made a good friend Joe.
You won't get any argument from me on the starter. It's very easy to sit behind a keyboard and squawk about altering a vintage car. It's quite another to be an elderly fellow sitting in the middle of a busy intersection after you've stalled your engine. If the next owner doesn't like it, they can change it back.
That's a big part of the beauty of a Model T: almost all mechanical parts from later years fit all prior years.
Compare that to a Buick, with several models every year.
Hello Joe.
What is the engine of your No. Touring?
Mine is numbered No. 120,812, it should also soon be 100 years old
Olivier (France)
Olivier, I looked it up a couple years ago when I added the starter, the only way I remembered was it is three days before my birthday.
J Berch, some day I hope to own it but I hope I have to wait fifty years for it, I like the old boy!!
Joe B,
All I can say is WOW! And thank you.
Drive carefully, and enjoy, W2
