I've finished the rear tack strip on my 15 touring and have the tack strips formed and clamped to the new front seat back, but, not yet drilled. Does anyone know what the distance should be from the rear top bracket (where the bows mount)to the front bracket (where you put the front bows for the top up position)? Is that distance critical as long as the distance is the same on both sides of the car?

Mike,

Below is a drawing for the 1915-1920 touring bodies that is from the Ford Onwer magazines. They are available in a reprint from the vendors see: http://www.modeltford.com/item/P9.aspx

I have attached a previously posted illustration of the touring body irons that the top attaches. And remember there could easily be some variation due to different body suppliers and also if your car came with a wooden or steel seat frame. (The biggest issue there is to be sure you use the wood top iron brackets with the wooden seat frame and the steel frame top iron brackets with the steel seat frames.)

Not requested but I suspect this is coming soon – questions about fitting the top.
See the posting at: 1919 Touring Top
http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/179374/229470.html which has another “Ford Onwer” illustration of the top installation along with great photos from folks on the forum.

Good luck.

Respectfully submitted,

Hap l9l5 cut off

Found it on pg 150. Thanks Hap. "The Model T Fordowner" was one of the first T books I bought. Before the MTFCA came out with "How to...." books, that book was great for things like charging the magnets in the car. I had forgotten all the good info that is in it. Thanks again.
