On the 20th I lost my best friend and wife of 43 years. She had liver disease and died in my arms. She enjoyed the Ohio Jamborees and the wonderful friends we made. We spent the winter in Hilton Head South Carolina spending 24 hours a day enjoying God beautiful work. She will be missed.

Mike,
I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. I can only imagine the waves of emotions that rush through your mind and heart. The “what if’s” and “if onlys.” The very happy memories the pain of loss. Take your time and cry when you need to – that’s a technical term for part of the grieving process along with anger and several other intense feelings. Be sure to work through that process -- and it is work and it does take time. There are several good books and resources on the 5 stages of grief. When I lost my Dad and later lost my Mom I went through all of those stages both times. If you are not familiar with them or if you would like a refresher -- please see: http://www.recover-from-grief.com/index.html or http://www.way2hope.org/5_stages_of_grief_and_loss.htm or one of the other websites that describe them.
And when you have some private time (I hate to cry in public) there is a country song I would like to share with you. It’s by Brad Paisley called “When I Get Where I am Going.” Even though it says “don’t cry for me down here” it’s really ok to get misty eyed – sometimes it expresses the way we really feel. And yes – there will be some sort of 30 second commercial for something at the beginning – but then the song starts. It does a good job of capturing that “bitter sweet” feeling and for me it was and still is helpful for processing my feelings. It is located at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYHT-TF4KO4 . And remember to “turn off the video at the end or at least hit replay” as sometimes the song that follows doesn’t fit in at all. And if you don’t like country songs – feel free to skip it.
We will be praying for you and your extended family. If I can be of any help – please drop me a note.
Respectfully submitted,

Mike, I know just what you are going through, I lost my wife of 30 years in 2009, I don't think you ever get over it but you just learn to live with it but I promise you will laugh again and enjoy life again but at the same time she will always be in your memories
Don

Mike,
My heart goes out to you and your family. I lost my wife of 53 years this past December. There is nothing that I or anyone else can say that will cure the hurt or fill the loss. Only time will heal.
The greatest help has been family, and of course Model 'T'ing. The wonderful people in this hobby have been a great help to me.

Now in the arms of Angels.......
