I just got done installing new wood bands
and realized that I put the detachable ears on
right side of car, away from the pedals
Does this matter?
btw I seem to get a lot of drag and I have them adjusted about as loose as can be
any advice appreciated
tnx patrick
It won't matter until you need to change the bands.
You can still get them out later. I don't think it matters at all.
I personally would be afraid the clockwise rotation of the engine would tend to make them want to come off, especially in hard braking. If they were the non detachable ears I would'nt worry about it. Have fun, KB
The drums rotate in various directions under various conditions. Most notably, the low drum rotates opposite the reverse drum in neutral and the brake when going forward. I've never heard of anyone putting the removable ear on the opposite side of the low band to keep it from coming off. I wouldn't worry anymore about it.
There are some who prefer them in that way.
If you loosen the bands so much they wont work they will still be too tight to come unhooked.
I have seen them both ways.
Considering the bands go the other way round in RHD cars, it would appear to make no functional difference.
Been there, done that, no big deal!
