Model T Ford Forum: Forum 2012: OT - Hernia surgery

I'm not sure how hernia surgery ever made it onto my bucket list in the first place, but now at least, I can cross it off. Our daughter Elisabeth showed up at 5:20 this morning to drive me to the hospital. Anja had originally planned to come as well, but Elisabeth pointed out quite reasonably that Anja could better go back to bed and be rested when I got home. We have traded the "caretaker" hat for the next few days, with Elisabeth jumping in when needed (thank goodness!). The surgery was uneventful (or at least so I'm told - I missed it). The discomfort seems easily manageable. (The percocet helps...) My next commitment is to make a few remarks at the Netherlands Society's Queen's Day (national holiday) reception next Sunday, but I think I will have no trouble with that by then and can even swap the track suit for a coat and tie.

Nice to be home again.

Dick, Glad to hear it's all behind you. It's like the old saying, "You gotta take good care of yourself because you're only put together with one screw". :-)

Dick,

No fair lifting the T with your back onto blocks for repairs...someone invented a "jack" for that!

Seriously, glad the procedure went well for you.

Dave

Dave, before the operation, the doctor told me that I would have to avoid lifting heavy objects for eight weeks. I said, "That shouldn't be a problem, since I've tried to avoid lifting heavy objects for the past two decades." :-)

Glad it went well.
I have a old black board out of a school on the side of 1 of my sheds near where I used to weld and I have a bucket list on it.
There is only 1 item on it.

Bucket list.
1,Dont kick the dang thing.

Good luck Dick. My Doc once told me a blown disc was an indication you haven't been lifting with your stomach... then he added a hernia is an indication you haven't been lifting with your back! Sometimes a guy just can't win!

Bob C,

That's what I see as the good point. It was uncomfortable before the surgery and it's uncomfortable now. The difference is that it will now get better every day....

Dick,

J Berch said: "Dick, Glad to hear it's all behind you."

If he is correct I think they did the surgery wrong!

Glad to hear you are doing well!
