Hello all, This is the novice in France again with a question I'm sure you'll all be able to answer. I've taken the inspection cover off the hogs head and am planning to adjust the three clutch fingers. With the hand brake virticle there is at least 1/8th inch gap between the fingers and the clutch shift. See picture below. Is that normal ? Any advice on clutch adjustment & band adjustment would be very much appreciated.
regards, Nick.

Nick:

That sounds normal. With the hand brake vertical, it keeps the transmission in neutral. If there wasn't the clearance you mentioned, the car would be moving forward in direct drive.

Bands should be adjusted loose enough for the drums to turn freely when the pedals are up, and tight enough to stop the drums before the pedals hit the floorboards. If the pedal hits the floorboard, the band is too loose.
