My late 1911 used the (hourglass) (figure 8) (Mae West) type of Murphy Fastener. I have some, but not enough. If one of these fasteners is placed on the impression of the original firewall, the markings fit perfectly.
On the back curtain, I have seen on other 1911 cars, the screw base type OVAL Murphy fastener with a backing plate.
Is the screw base type with a backing plate correct, or did they have the "in the fabric" type of Fastener by then?
If the screw base fastener with the backing plate is correct, would they have used the oval base or hourglass base?
The car I saw recently had a mixture of oval base fasteners as well as the hourglass type on the body.
Interestingly, three of these hourglass type fasteners that came with my car are nickle plated!
So...
In the fabric?
Hourglass shape?
Oval shape?

Hi Keith, I have not seen the in fabric type used. I would use the 1911 hourglass type. Let me know if you are short a few. Kim.
Thanks Kim. I will six of the double type and abut 22 of the single type.
If anyone else has any to spare, please let me know!
