It looks like this car has had some major upgrades in recent times, or is it an early body on a later chassis?. Caption reads-"c1920 Edna Bradley with father and mother in their T Model Ford"

Dane,

The open front does remind us of the 1912 and earlier Model Ts. But they did not have the nice curve sweeping down from the front seat arm rests to the cowl. The bodies used by Ford were more square where they transitioned from seat to floor etc. And like the car in the photo the early Fords had the straight wooden dash board. But I believe this vehicle is around a 1921 chassis, fenders, etc. that has a locally made open pickup body (Ute) installed on it.

In USA production (not necessarily the same for Canadian production that supplied Australia) the front bearing and spring clip (the part that holds the engine and the front spring to the frame) changed from two U-bolts that used 4 nuts to that yoke style that used only two nuts in 1921. The starting crank still appears to be the earlier style that was replaced with the rolled sleeve handle in 1922 in the 1922 USA. If those same transition dates applied to the Canadian production (and I do not know if they did or did not for those two parts) then the chassis is a 1921. If the date on the license tag could be seen, that might help with dating the photo.

Thank you and others for posting the older photos -- there are often so many neat details to in them. And they have ideas we can sometimes use on modern reconstructions. I wish we could see more of the body on that car. I suspect it is very simple but very functional.

Respectfully submitted,

Looking at the one-piece front engine mount & demountable wheels I would have dated it mechanically as a 1922, body looks like a country utility version popular in central Australia, outback Queensland and the like. Interesting windscreen frame, a purpose built body. I am not 100% sure but it looks like a QMA to me...anybody out there with any more information?
