No prize but the pleasure of being the first to spot it.
No, not the loose wire.
Are those silver dollars?
Rich
Genny disconnected??
Garnet
unless it's a 26 TT it has a 26 Fan assembly on an older vehicle.
Water outlet/fan hub and water pump are not original.
Jim
Generator is toast or about to be if you mean the 'loose' wire.
Otherwise, the pre-26 timing cover for the bolt for the fan pulley is there, while the fan pulley is now a '26 style for I guess the use of a short fan belt for that %**^$ water pump
Did they have to shorten the fan blades for the low radiator?
Is there a firewall/dash screw loose at the top of the photo?
To add to above, wiring harness is above coil box posts instead of between them. A little trivial but would probably give you a little more slack to reroute it out of the way down around the carb area.
Besides the fact that the generator is either about to be "toasted", or, already has, due to the wire disconnected, I do see something odd, altho' not really "wrong",.....there is one "oddball" piece among the four little manifold "bridges" (not sure what they're called). Either three of them are right and one is wrong, or, one of them is right and three wrong. (???) Maybe that's one reason for the two quarters, or slugs, or whatever they are.
Oh, and one other thing (maybe?)......I think the bellcrank for the choke linkage might be installed upside down.
Fan is backwards!
Under the manifold clamps (bridges) are some round shims. Those are what I was wondering if they were silver dollars.
Rich
Or am I seeing things?
Sorry, I was looking at the fan backwards I guess.
No magneto wire, sorry John, fan is on the right way.
The head bolts are only torqued to 20 pounds. That was too easy.
Steve, what is that copper tube running from the dash down past the engine and under the car?It may be a wire.
Rick
Water pump hiding on the other side of the engine.
OK , I will join in.
Is the exhaust pipe missing?
What is the blow dart next to the generator?
The water pump AND.... the modified bituminous roofing tar that is sealing the valve covers.
Is the generator shaft supposed to be sticking out that far out of the back of the generator?
It is LHD drive...heh, heh.
The hood shelf dosn't look right on the in side edge plus all the above above. BUT IF it's running and working fine who cares drive the H@@L out of it and enjoy. My .02 cents worth,
grin grin grin.
Bob
There are two generations of manifold clamp. Three of the later style and one of the early style.
It has the earlier fan mounting bolt on the timing gear cover but, a 26/27 outlet mounted fan.
Stephen
Lots of good observations here. Richard's "silver dollars" are washers. Their presence suggests that one of the manifolds is the wrong one. Harold noticed the different manifold clamps. I think the "oddball" is correct, and others are 26-27 clamps installed backwards. Rick noticed what appears to be a copper tube or a wire going down from top to bottom. Actually it's a dashboard pull-handle control that goes to????? It ends under the car, unattached to anything. Mike was the first to point out the big item that prompted me to post the picture: the 26-27 fan set-up. Dan gets a point for noticing that the pre-26 mounting bolt is still there.
Probably went to an exhaust cut-out, at one time.
No, No, Water pump is still in place... See I even beat the Jelf!
Greg, I think what you're seeing is a brass oiler for the rear bearing of the generator.
The manifolds are on the wrong side.
Kep, ????? Dave
Steve, I've never seen a mismatch of the manifolds such as that. Check out the exhaust manifold, it may an aftermarket. I have one that was made in Argentina some time ago when there were a lot of repro parts made there. I bought it at Chickasha a few years ago because it was cheap. I have since found out on this forum that they weren't made and or fit very well. I have never tried it, but it is heavier than an original, it may be thicker. Dave

Wrong post title? S/B "What's right with this picture?" ;>)
