Can anyone help me with the locations on the firewall (and any other locations) on the 19 TT for the wire harness clips? A photo or other description would be great. Getting close now! Dave

Dave, see Steve Jelf's post, What's Wrong With This Picture? John Berch posted a very nice picture of a low firewall with the original wiring. Dave

Dave,

The TT will run great with the wiring above or below the the top coil box insulators. But if you want to make it like it was in 1919 I believe we need a little more research.

Below is a photo of the Rip Van Winkle Ford a Jun 1917 original with 26 miles on the speedometer when the photos were taken.

Note that the firewall is wooden -- which would also be the case for a 1919. Note also the shape of the hood shelf at the rear. If you compare that to John Berch's photo above you will notice it has the later high cowl hood shelf. That would lead me to believe it probably is a high cowl and not a low cowl. John would you please let us know which one it is? Or if you are not sure I can pull up some photos of the firewalls and figure it out from the reinforcement indents.

And for a 1919 firewall it might also depend if the car was or was not equipped with a starter -- but I do not know that for sure one way or the other.

Please let us know if you want additional information on where the wiring went. And if so the approximate month of your TT i.e. Jan 1919 or Jul 1919 etc.

Respectfully submitted,

Hap l9l5 cut off

Hi Hap, Yes you are correct. That picture was from a 24 high firewall starter equipped car. The photo was from the very nice delivery van that sold on ebay a week ago. I saved all the pictures for future reference because the wood body was in excellent condition.

The photo of the truck is a good start for clips. However, in 1919, the cutout wire was NOT in the harness, but separate, and is held on, I believe with standard insulated nails. Good luck on your wiring.

My 21 had the harness in the same place as the 2ed photo and the cutout wire was separate on it also.

For research purposes I have borrowed this picture from one of my old Vintage Ford Magazines it can also be found in Bruce's book.
I think that this is what Larry is talking about when he said the cutout wire is separate. Regards, John

Thanks for the quick and timely response from all.. Hap, the truck was purchased by grandad in early 1920, with an engine number in late 1919. So, what model year is it?? on the cusp I guess! One other detail - the gas tank is oval. (20?) The pictures are great and with detail I can utilize to place the wiring. The engine now has a starter.

Dave, Model year 1920 started in august 1919, so your grandads TT is a 1920.
