My ol' T needed rings.
So here we go.
The Service manual says 15 minutes to install all four pistons but give you an extra 15 for a 3 dip pan.
Were those guys magicians 80 or 90 years ago?
Took me that long to get the cotter pins in number 4.
Old eyes and bifocals sure make it slower.
I have more excuses than that but you probably know them already.

Well done getting # 4 done, that's a P*^%* that one with a 3 dipper.
Hope it all runs well now.
David.

I'll sneak in and take this thread off track, even if it is sort of related.
I was wondering if anybody has tried "Total Seal" gapless compression rings in a T?
Seems that I read that Gene Berg really liked them for the Beetles.

Roar.......are you talking about step cut rings?
Those are my favorite rings ever!

Thanks David.
I'm lucky I didn't spill too much blood!
I've never used the step cut rings but have a few old T pistons sporting these rings.

Craig,
No, the Total Seal compression rings are a two piece design, where the rail covers the gap in the ring.
The rings you show look like an improvement for reducing blow by. The Total Seal two piece may do an even better job. Who knows?

I have a Jacobs aircraft engine that uses two 1/8 wide rings in each groove.
Four ring grooves in each piston with two rings in three grooves and one 1/8 wide ring in the bottom groove.
Seems to work good.

I used Total Seal rings in a Indian with good results.
