If you've been following the adventure of the new '23 Fordor, you know it came with some wrong parts. I took off the water pump, derusted and painted a proper water inlet and bolts, took off the 26-27 fan assembly, and derusted and painted the proper fan parts. Then today I took a good look at the timing gear cover I had carefully cleaned and painted. Turns out it's also 26-27 and won't work with the earlier fan. So this afternoon I had to do a little unplanned blasting to clean up a correct timing cover. I'm painting it tonight, and I hope that's the last part I need before I start reassembly.

Ahhh! The reverse modification must have been done on my car. I have a very late 27 engine in my 22 Ford, but it have the right 22'ish fan and hence timer cover. ;-) It's not even 8 AM here and I have already learned something I did not know before ;-)
