Dave Huson got a message from him a few days ago - he was stuck in Khartoum, Sudan, for bureaucratic reasons - probably still there.. http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/257047/284807.html

Yes, I've been stuck in Sudan for almost a month; luckily Khartoum is actually a good and cheap place to stay and the locals are very nice. I've been caught up in Middle East politics (more on this later)...but with my visa for Sudan expiring next week I will soon be heading for Port Sudan as originally planned.
The three day drive to Port Sudan will be interesting. The section from Atbara (on the Nile river) to Haiya (200km from Port Sudan) is through the desert. Locals tell me it's "hot" in this region which translates into temperatures around +50C (+122F).
For you engine oil buffs, the many locals use a monograde 50w API SF engine oil in their cars.
