Or is the car pulling the tractor?
My W-30 would have pulled the car out forward.
Herb
Time for a tractor debate anyone?
Mr. Douglas traded his in for a Hoyt Clagwell, (actually a Fordson).
You know, I've been watching Machinery of the Past on the RFD channel for years and they've never mentioned a Hoyt Clagwell. Is it a joke or trick name?
Well, after being elbow deep in a B john deere the past couple weeks,I would say that was a upgrade. The clagwell is a fake name used in the show.
I guess Ford didnt want their name used.
Kinda odd,the D was newer than the Fordson werent it?
A Hoyt-Clagwell is a farm tractor that rarely works and whose wheels regularly fall off. On the Green Acres show, his tractor was a Hoyt-Clagwell. In reality though, his tractor was a Fordson model "F" built from 1917-1926

I'd call Herb's tractor a Model D and Oliver's (second picture) a GP, General Purpose.
The "Hoyt Clagwell" was a made up name.
I always thought it was a little strange during the theme song they had a John Deere but the Fordson was used during the show.
Mr. Haney must have sold him another one in the mean time.
Herb
I'll bet he did Herb. He always seemed to show up whenever somthing was needed.
Ahaaa, I'm beginning to smell a conspiracy coming together. Ford, being one of their sponsors, suddenly wants Ford products on the show. That's the end of the old John Deere. Suddenly a Fordson appears. The writers begin to make the Fordson a regular "Character" on the show with constant breakdowns, wheels falling off, etc. Certainly not the image Ford would like to project. Magically the Ford product becomes a Hoyt Clagwell. Problem solved.
I'm only kidding, of course, but.......notice the credits at the end of the show. I'll let you decide.
Here is a still older but more recent version of the infamous Hoyt-Clagwell tractor.
Jim
This is great information.
A large group of old tractors show up for our Memorial day parade I' have to ask the guys if anyone has a Hoyt
Clagwell
Is that a Graham or a Graham Paige??
That would have made the old Johnny Popper really POP!!
Manuel in Oz
That old Hoyt-Clagwell had about the same drawbar power as Fred Ziffels pet pig Arnold as I recall!
