I bought this ( Potato ) horn for a speedster I will be building soon but everyone thinks this is a very rare early horn
the bracket is stamped patented jan-5-09
no 39746
Any clue what this is off, it is near mint, thanks Bob
My friend's 1911 Hupmobile has a horn like that. Not sure if it has that right-angle bracket however.
We have the same horn on the Holsman we are restoring here at McPherson College. The right-angle bracket mounts flat on the horizontal part of the front trunk lid.
I've seen several in the time I've been associated with the Holsman. It is unusual, but I wouldn't say rare. I'd guess if you found someone that 'needed' it to be correct for a car they are restoring, they might be willing to trade for a similarly unusual brass bulb horn. I know I would if I needed it.
Brass horns and lights have survived in far greater numbers than the cars they were on.
