I need to have a car transported across a few states and was wondering if anyone would care to make any recommendations on a company they have used. I understand some of these companies can be, shall we say, a little less than reputable.
Thanks for your help.
Hello Marty. What kind of a car are you transporting? Do you need it shipped in a closed trailer?
It's a 1914 Model T touring and, yes, it must be in a closed trailer. Thank you for your interest and response.
Marty,
Don't give away any details but from what state to what state do you need it hauled?
Iowa to Michigan. And I am a first time T owner (long time wannabe) and first time trying to ship something like this so any help would be appreciated.
None of you guys have had a car hauled???
Have used a good one out of FL, for across country haul, but you would have to contact to see if they run Iowa to Mich route. Very reputable, and was very satisfied with on-road contacts for update by the driver. Most of these classic car haulers like to double up loads to save expenses and cover a pretty good distance, sometimes you have to wait a week or so for delivery.

Any of the big ones for classic car hauling are very reputable, you get want you pay for, a cheap-low-price unlicensed hauler could be risky.
Source for classic car haulers can be found at this services listing for transport in Hemmings Motor News.

Marty. I used Reliable and Horseless carriage, both were great! You can find their #'s in many car magazines. Good Luck!

Gentlemen, thank your for all your help -- and Dennis, for making me feel soooooo much better about transporting a car -- and after much research, I have decided to go with Nationwide Transport Service out of Ft. Lauderdale (this may be the one Dan suggested).
Tom, how did you know it was my birthday gift to me?? My birthday was this past Sat. and I purchased the car Sun.
Will let you all know how the transport goes.
Thanks.
Marty,
At Greenfield Village at Pass in Review, you and Glenn announced to Tom Jr. that the '12 he was driving and helped to restore was his 21st birthday present.
You told me when your birthday was and told me you wouldn't mind the same arrangement. I wrote your birthday down on my calendar but still hadn't got around to giving you a car.
I have used Passport transport, liked their service. They are part of FedEx. Dan
All Model Ts listed on ebay have a SHIPPING option to click on. Click over to the right and you will see the name of several companies that have lists of independent haulers who have already bid on the particular car you are looking at.
It must be that the mere fact that you are looking, ebay already knows who and the mileage involved.
Do a Google search on a couple of these companies and see if you can find any method of
contacting them.

Well, I used Nationwide Transport Service and after a little bit of a shaky start on communication, it turned out to be fine. Car arrived fast and in the condition it left the seller.
