I am having an issue with the folks that shipped my Model T parts to AK and I need to know how wide a 26-27 frame rear cross member is. This is the widest part of the frame and there is some question about how it was packed and how much room they are charging me for. Thanks for any help.
The over all width of the rear cross member is 43". If the running board supports are on the frame they are 62" wide.

See also the Wescott 1926-27 frame diagram at: http://www.wescottsauto.com/Tech/FrameDiagram1926-27.pdf
Note the dimensions are within a 1/4 to 1/2 inch of the distances Jim measured. With wear and tear the dimensions could vary -- I.e. the running boar braces could easily be wider or narrower depending on how they were bent. And while it would take a lot more force -- the rear cross member could be slightly different also.

Dr. Blanchard:
Check for stamped numbers on the right frame rail just back of the mounting holes for the cross shaft.
Chassis made after December 1926 will have corresponding numbers with the engine block.... at least that's what happened at the factory.

December of '25. Letter in Ford files says first stamped top frame rail with engine number was 12 Dec. 1925, engine #12,68x,xxx.
And while most all I have seen are stamped on the passenger side as you posted, found this one where the matching # of the block was on the driver's side!
Thanks for the information. It is a speedster frame and the running board brackets are trimmed. It is a Canadian manufactured car with matching frame and engine numbers. It was a complete car found in a Las Vegas barn by someone who only wanted the body for a hot rod (too bad). I bought the running gear for a speedster project.
