I know this is way OT, but this august body has such a variety of talents they share.
What have you found to remove those awful price/id tags and their glue? They are on nearly everything in the store, as you know.
Normally, you don't care if the tag stays on a pvc pipe coupling that gets covered in construction, but I'm using them where they will be seen, and even boxes of 100 have a tag on each and every 20 cent piece of pvc. It can cost more than that in labor to remove the tag.

Frustrated Micro Manufacturer
Lighter fluid
WD-40 works pretty well.
Michigan fixed that problem. With the business orientated govn'r they just changed the law that required each item be price tagged. Now all you have to do is find the price. Your state may soon follow.
I use lighter fluid and it's never let me down or attacked the surface. WD works also but leaves a film and odor.
Goo Gone works wonders! Its citrus based, and any decent hardware store/home center carries it. It does not stink, and it is pretty much harmless to any finishes.
It often depends on the glue . . .
Hair dryer (low heat and patience for stickers on books or cardboard)
WD40 (will often remove some felt pen as well)
Regular gasoline
White (camp) gas
Vandalism remover (great on dried up duct tape)
I've found that denatured alcohol is the best for removing price-tag adhesive. It leaves no residue and it doesn't attack plastic like some petroleum based solvents do. However, alcohol can attack certain types of paint.
Acetone also works well but will also attack paint.
Here is a product that we have found works really well. May not be available in the US.

I usually use common paint thinner. It rarely damages what I have used it on. Although my wife usually shrieks when I go to use it on dishes or glassware.
I have also used Goo-Gone. Also good.
Drive carefully, and enjoy, W2
I'd sure like to have Gumtree oil, John Page, as I hike through a grove every morning, and my new product is aimed at cockatoos and other parrots.

Thanks for all the ideas and experience, guys. Right now I'm removing the bar code labels on white pvc pipe fittings. Even boxes of 100 have labels on every piece. It could cost a dollar to remove the label from a 20 cent item.
I've tried just about everything but lighter fluid. These labels laugh at acetone and most other products. When buying GooGone at the grocery this morning, I also bought the item beside it: De-Solv-It.
I now spray De-Solv-It on the label, leave it awhile, and the label peels right off. A little rubbing or second spraying takes away the glue.

They also have other neat products, like Medi-Sol.

Rick, The eucalyptus oil work wonders on the labels we have here in Australia. It leaves you with the smell for a while though. Regards, John
