I don't know how many of you use Rock Auto, the online seller of auto parts, but I have used them on occasion for some of my later model car parts. To my surprise, they have a listing for Model T parts. Even more surprising, they have the threaded Timken outer wheel bearings for under $50 each...

I've bought a lot of Ford parts from them, but never checked for T parts.

Yeah. Support corporate America and screw the little guys like Lang's and Snyder's. For the same reason I exclusively buy my hardware at Home Depot instead of the hardware store next door. Goddam losers . . . those guys like us who are trying to make a living by providing a service to little guys like US. And we wonder why this country continues to slide into gutter. Go Walmart!

A fellow came into my shop and wanted a 3G Ford alternator. I told him it was $89.10 and is done the same day.
He said I get a new one at Rock auto for $96.00.
I said plus shipping and three days.
I asked what was the price range of that unit?
He said $96 to $180.
I said what does that mean? and where do you want me to be?
I said you need to order one from Rock Auto.
He said okay. If I have any trouble or it doesn't work I'll come by.
I said okay, and I will charge you.
He left. Don't need customers like that.

I think you left off a 1, Mike...

The choices for moderns here are Autozoner and O'Really's. They don't carry things like intake manifold isolator bolts for the 3.8 Ford, and RockAuto does. I'd rather deal with a computer than the village idiots behind the counters of the above chain stores.

BTW, how big a corporate is RockAuto, Bernard?

The guy was crazy, Mike. I was sure your price must be $189.10.

Here's from the RA site:

History:
RockAuto, LLC was founded in Madison, Wisconsin in 1999 by the Taylor family. Their engineering background, passion for old cars, and desire to liberate information hidden behind the auto parts store counter led the Taylors to start RockAuto.
---------
About RockAuto:

$89.10 for a 3G 200 amp? I want one for my 5.0 Fox Mustang. I'll pm you in a few weeks when I am ready.

Wow how did we get here. We rebuild 3 and 4G's for $89.10. We do 200 amp 3G's for police cars, ambulances and the transit district but they require special stators and rectifier. I think they run around $150.00.
That is a rebuilding price btw for walk ins, hence my comment same day service.
Now if you want to talk about oil cooled 50DN that's another story.
We do a lot of 3,4 and 6g's, wonder why?
Wasn't looking for work btw, just commenting on issues mom and pops face.
We fix wielders and golf cars too.
The wildest thing in the last year or so was a fiberglass cow that is electric powered. You sit inside and steer it. It is used to train roping horses. To get to the working parts you lift the tail (a mop) and work on it....well through the tail pipe so to speak.

Now that fiberglass cow has to be a hoot! "You sit inside and STEER it. :-) What if there's a bull around?

Monty Montana could use that in the infernal Rose Parade. Let your imagination run wild..
