Getting ready to paint the '13 roadster pickup and I'll do the fenders, running boards and splash apron in black. I'd like to do the body, hood and headlights in a dark blue. I've seen the dark blue before but don't have a color code. Anyone out there have a correct code for that color using PPG paints? Thanks for your help.
John,
I don't have a code, but recommend you choose a dark blue color. There have been several code recs and hopefully someone will give one.

John -- There have been several threads on this subject, some with pictures. You can do a search for "Midnight Blue" and see some of them. The darkest blue I saw in those threads is Mercedes DB 332 (ca. 1963-1967).
Take a look at Rob's K thread not that far down the page.......

There is also this http://www.mtfca.com/encyclo/P-R.htm PPG shops can replicate the Ditzler codes.
Thanks a lot for all the good information. This site and those that post answers are very much appreciated. I think I've found what I need for our '13.
When I had my 13 in the 70's, I didn't want a color that appeared black. I chose a dark blue that I learned was used on Kenworth trucks of the 60's.
John-
That Dupont or Ditzler color code for "Midnight blue" is way too light of a blue.
I painted mine Diamont Uno 4635 A. The color is a Mercedes color DB 332 (ca. 1963-1967)
[DO NOT confuse this with DB 904 ca. 1968-2000!!!]
Use black primer, or undercoat with black, then paint the blue.
Rob's Model K blue is great for a Model K, but it also is too light for 1911-1913 Model T.
Here's mine:

Thanks Keith: That looks like what I'd like to have. Right now I'm taking the car apart and getting it ready to paint.

Don't paint the headlights blue! They should be black!
Didn't know about the headlight color. Thanks, Larry.
Looking good Keith.
Let us see your project John when you can. Good luck on it.
I have seen maroon, blue and green as well . . . all very dark, and black 13 T's. Ours came out of the barn red and black in 1948 with original paint, it was made in 1912. It was allowed on Harrah tours so it had to be right.
You can count on seeing a picture of the completed car when it's done. Thanks for all the help/comments.
I would believe an original red 1913 if it came out of the barn in 1913. Otherwise not so much.
Ford didn't have any red paint in inventory, Frank. In fact the 1913 T's are well documented as to color. Most people would call the original 1913 paint black, but in just the right light it can look a little blue.
This is original paint on a 1913 touring:
That is a great photo Royce...

It sure would be nice if that photo could have been in color. BTW, I wonder what could have been on the firewall just above the hood former?
For those who have read Bruces book, the color he recommends is nice, but too light. It is a pretty common color for a lot of cars in the HCCA.
Larry, probably a dealer plaque.
