I can't ID these, any guesses? Maybe early Ford or White?
Those are used on very early cars. They fit the contour of the back section of the body. The years would be from 1903-5.
Usually the rear entrance removable tonneau for Ford, Packard, and Cadillac bodies were all very much alike. They usually also had a cone shaped woven basket for the ladies parasols. Here you can see our 1906 Moline. By this time the removable tonneaus had side doors but the body is still cureved so that the back seat can carry five people while the front seats are simply two buckets.
Are them picnic baskets for old cars?never seen anything like that.1 looks new,1 looks old.
I found a picture of a 1904 White model D that looked a lot like these. both of these are original but one has been restored. I would love to find someone who could use them, they don't need to be just lying around my place.
Those are for a rear-entry car of about 1903-04. They look like they would fit a 1903 Model A Ford.
Here is a recent thread with pictures showing wicker basket equipped 1903-04 White cars: http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/257047/286349.html
Where did you find those ? I am guessing they are fairly rare to find , though I have seen many in old photo's.....
If it wasn't for the fact that they're too long for my little car,(in particular, the driver's side)I'd be trying to convince you to sell them to me
I've always wanted a set to "pimp my ride".
The transmission lever being on the outside of the car restricts the length of the basket.Early Fords I believe, have their transmission lever on the inside of the seat area. Not sure about other makes....
Did a search for "vintage car baskets".... got this ..not quite what I had in mind !
this is more like it !
Forgot to mention,I believe any of these baskets are aftermarket accessories rather than a particular car manufacturer extras. I could be wrong.
The late Greg Tocket of "The Cadillac Shop" later known as Stoneaire Classic Cars, Inc." sold reproduction baskets for early Cadillacs and would do custom orders for other cars. I don't know who actually did the work.
Baskets for 1903/04-A Cadillacs are listed on Stoneaire's website. Note that it may take a long time for the page to load.

I have them on consignment. A friend of mine found them and wants me to sell them for him. I thought it might be easier if I could figure out what they fit and what there worth. Hope it's enough to repair the top on my 11 touring.
