Wayne,
this one's for you:

Tell us what it is!
Bernard,
Thanks, I think. As much as I would like to be, I am not an expert on all the after-market bodies. But I do love looking at them. Some now are modern re-creations which I have no problems with as long as they are well done and look enough like the cars they are intended to represent.
#81, the Hudkins MoTor Company Special, I have seen up close. I do not know who built the body. I do not know the owner. There is a lot about that car that is nicely done. When I saw it, it was well received by everyone that was looking it over.
The other car, #44, I am not familiar with. It does appear to have a Whippet radiator shell. When I looked at other photos on the link posted above, Car #12, I think I may know, couldn't tell for sure. In one photo, a big red monster could be seen in the background of the shot. It looked like it could be an early Fiat.
Do you know where these photos were taken? It looks like Laguna Seca in Monterey, but I have never gone to that meet (shameful of me!).
Thank you! Definitely.

Wayne, you need to save your pennies and come on down! Yes it's Laguna Seca Raceway. Car 81 is Bruce Hudkins and he built the body. c
Car 44 is Gary Lucas and he built the body. The BIG red car is a 1911 Fiat Gran Prix car 4 cyl/ 835 Cu. In. engine belongs to Geo. Wingard. And as you know Wayne, yes we're having fun! Thanks Bernard for posting the picture.

Maybe you could help identify this one,
any information would help
view of firewall
view of rear (trunk)
view of windshield mount (stain) and some remaining "tie downs" for top
close to this one
windshield mount looks similar to this one
would love to know make and year
thanks
also have frontenac "T" head , single intake
how do you guys feel about this model ?
The Fronty T head is lower compression than the S and R versions but still performs very nicely with the high top pistons. I'm using one with an A crank motor and am very satisfied.
Shawn,
I recall several postings a year or two ago about your T body. Family history and all! Incredible. I hope you begin restoration soon. That would be a terrific car to drive and enjoy. I know that I don't know the builder of it because I previously looked through the limited literature that I have. The good news is that there were more than fifty significant builders of after-market bodies plus hundreds of small companies and individuals that built a few or less. Most of them, little is known about. It is not necessary to know the original builder. I often call mine the "not a Mercury" boat-tail. There is a story I have told before about that name.
ED! It is good to see you posting here a bit. Shawn's looks a little bit like the one you were showing me at the Endurance Run (was that last year?) that Vic had restored. Have you sold it?
And you are right. I do need to save my pennies and make it to the Laguna Seca meet!

Hi Wayne
I am beginning to re assemble it now,
the trouble is,
I want it back to as close to original as I can get it,
which is hard when I am not sure what it is,
I think I will go 19 or newer(engine) for the sake of having a starter ,but what year should I register it as???
will post more pics as i get it assembled
doing the axles, with single "hassler" shocks right now
thanks Shawn
Shawn, the 2 cars that you posted are both Mercury bodied speedsters, major diferences in those 2 and yours. Wayne, yes, I tune in once in a while to the forum and enjoy it. The speedster I had on display at the endurance run is major different also from Shawns, it has a door on the right side and a similated door on the other and high body sides. According to the original owner it's an American Body Co. body, built in Los Angeles. We've found ads from a company called Breeden and Cole in San Francisco that originally sold these speedsters, it appears, as complete "drive away" cars.

Hi Ed
not a mercury?
any idea as to what it may be ?
it has been in pieces since the late 20's
I think it was purchased as a complete running
car by my great uncle
Shawn, if Wayne doesn't know what it is I probably dont either, although it would help with clearer picturers and maybe a few more.

ED! Are you implying that I know anything? Most of what I know I learned from you, Dan, and Vic.
