I have a pair of demountable front wheels that look like regular wood wheels, but they have stamped steel spokes and were made by Kelsey Wheel Co.

I got these with all the extra parts when I bought my roadster 12 years ago, and have never seen another pair like them.

You are a lucky man. You don't often see those and not in that good shape. Someone else can tell you more about them.

Thanks Richard, there was a good discussion here about the steel spoke wheels last December, but with no information on the steel Kelsey brand wheels. They look just like the Daytons though.

Even if nobody has any further information, I thought some might like to see the pictures anyway.

I wish I had a full set...

Thanks for the post.

How much do they weigh, compared to wood spoke wheels?

Ricks, I don't have a loose wood wheel handy to compare, but I'd guess it's pretty close to the same weight. Bathroom scale says 22.2lbs each.

Jay, thanks for the link. I hadn't seen that thread before. Those look a little different, but the idea was the same...

What does a wheel built with new aluminium spokes weigh just out of interest??

I was digging through the wheels in my dad’s barn and found a 30x3.5 non-demountable wheel with steel spokes. The non-demountable rim looked just like the ones on the Model T with the square wood felloes. The rim and felloe were rolled out of a single piece of metal. I didn’t think to look for a name. I wish I had a full set of those.
