Model T Ford Forum: Forum 2012: What about top kits?

I've gotten a lot of what I consider to be good advice here. Does anyone have an opinion about the different open car top kits/top boots that are available from our regular vendors? Is one brand better than another or are they all selling the same stuff? Would I be better off getting "custom" work done at a local upholstery shop?

Thanks,
Eric

Mac's, Snyders, Joe's Antique Auto Parts, most major vendors sell Cartouche brand kits.

I believe MAC's manufactures them.

Classtique sells a product which, depending upon who you ask, is way better than the others.

Lebaron Bonney makes quality kits, but not sure if they carry T kits.

I installed a classtique top kit on my 23 roadster a year ago and could not ask for a better product. Elizabeth is located in Ham Lake Mn. She will answer any and all questions you may have. Could not have been more happy with her kit

I got a Cartouche top set for my '19 touring last year and am very pleased with it.
I can't tell you about instructions as my upholstery guy knew what he was doing so.......

LeBarron-Bonney makes wonderful upholstery kits for Model A's, but not T's. I've heard here that some folks have fared well with the Cartouche kits, but more often I have heard horror stories about them. I have never heard anything but accolades for Classtique.

I thought I'd better correct it before the spelling police arrested me: It's LeBaron Bonney. One "r", no hyphen. :-)

They make kits for Fords from 1928 - 1962 and for GM cars from 1916 - 1962. Over 100,000 kits sold.
