I found a craftsman in Kansas who is attempting to salvage our radiator. The following pics show it in pieces at the shop. I sure hope he can salvage it..............
Rob -- I hope he can salvage it too. That would be an expensive one for him to learn on.
Mike,
Good news. I spoke with the repairman today and he says he has both the top and bottom tanks back on, and pressure tested it to 16 lbs. the only leaks were around the crank hole (those tubes open into a chamber that goes around the crank hole and then back to the lower tubes).
I took this radiator to another "expert" before who told me the core was bad and the rad couldn't be salvaged. Glad I got a second opinion.
Rob
Rob,
Pretty amazing for a106 year old rad!
Larry
Fixed radiator.
Wow somebody knows what they are doing. The radiator looks superb!
Steve,
I agree! He even pressure tested it to 17 lbs. If you look at the pic dates, it was in pieces on the 8th, and all together and picked up on the 15th. I think I've found my "Radiator Man".
Rob
Rob,
hang on to him!
Steve
Fantastic. I always wondered how the water got around that hole right in the middle of the radiator?
People are always asking me how come my 27 is a 'Model T' and a 28 is a 'Model A'? I try to explain that the 28 wasn't the first 'Model A'. It's great to have a working example of a Model K out there for all to see. Most people have no idea that Ford built a Model K or an N, an R, and an S?
Amazing! One guy wrote it off and another fixed you right up. There's a valuable lesson in this thread. Congratulations Rob.
Looks great Rob! You got lucky!!!
A thing of beauty! A work or art! A radiator man to keep track of.
Thank you for the update.
Drive carefully, and enjoy, W2
Rob,
Looking great! The radiator and the engine as well as the painted body parts. Do you have any photos of the upholstery? How long until it all comes together?
wow., l think you just discovered everyones new radiator guy.
Looks great Rob.
Is that the same core??
David.
sorry - read more carefully then type ....
same core re soldered tanks...
Rob,
That looks great! A case of finding the importance of finding the correct person for the job as well as obtaining more than one opinion.
Thanks for the updates -- they are very informative.
Respectfully submitted,

That looks great, Rob !!! You definitely found the right guy for the job. Now it's time to put Holly to work with a can of Brasso and some rags.
Thanks guys. Our timeline now is hopefully together by June 1st and then to the upholsterer. We are putting the old upholstery back, but a new top (although the top may not happen for some time).
If everything goes well I may have it in Lincoln at the MTFCA tour (but we'll tour with the 13 T).
Rob
Mike,
Fat chance!
Who, Where in KS is your new rad guy?
awesome craftsmanship! Thanks for sharing your continuing progress with us.
Jerome,
He is in far northeast Kansas, just south of the NE/KS border. Send me a PM if you'd like the name and phone number.
Thanks Jay.
