I need some pictures of the installation process of the front seat backrest for a 26 touring. What was there is not original and l can not quite see how to properly install the spring unit.

i'm sure that some of you are much better at searching the old forum posts than I. Thanks

I got a senior member of our club to show me how to position the spring backs in my 24 touring. I had no original wood, or original upholstery. Instructions with the kit were essentially non existent. Maybe yo can find someone in a New Jersey club to assist you.

Dave,

The only wood in a 26 touring front backrest spring is the strip at the top and the upholstery nailing strip at the bottom. There are no wooden uprights. You also need a sheet of cardboard to keep the spring from rubbing the metal.

You most likely will need two strips of metal or can use two strips of canvas webbing to attach the spring.

How soon do you need to do this? I can drive down after work on Friday and show you....

Something that is VERY important. When you hang the backrest spring, position it as low as you can, but still be able to slide the cushion in. Some people get it too high, and wind up with square top upholstery.
