Some of you may have been following my Faultless Boat tail speedster project I started a while ago. If so, you then know I learn as I go. The speedster is still on some early spoke wheels so I can roll it around the shop. I wanted to put some temporary tires on the rims to test the running chassis around my neighborhood when I get it running this summer.
I ran across 8 Allstate tires yesterday that are slightly used but have been packed away indoors for a very long time. The rubber looked so good I bought them all hoping that four of them might fit my rims. Now I'm not so sure. Not even sure if these tires are for T rims or Model A rims. The only size indications that show on any of them is what you see in the pics.
All are made by Allstate a couple have the ribbed sides you see in the pics otherwise they are nearly identical
The measurements I took today show: height = 28 -28.5" inches if I measure from floor to top of tire. The opening in the tires is 19" if I include the tires clinch rim the measure 20 inches.
Could these be tires to fit 28 X 3" rims???
#2. Not even sure what size the front and back wheels are that I'm using on the chassis right now. They were pretty early ones (I think 1915 )
In the end I paid $40.00 for all eight tires. They all look very good with good tread and no rot so I can always sell them if I can't use them.
Thanks in advance. Jimmy
'30-'31 Model A?
They're very nice tires and a good deal but they're for a Model A, or other car using 19" rims. Not for a T, unless it's sporting Model A wheels.
Thanks Guys! Thought that might be what they were. I should have no problem selling them as they clean up looking very sharp.Live & learn.
Jimmy
Guys some HAYES wire wheels were 19 in also, straight sided not clinchers
i would buy those from you if i lived in the USA
