Lang's sells a "brake equalizer" which activates the rear drum brakes along with the transmission brake when the brake pedal is applied.

I have searched the forum and while there was a few reports of actual users, most of the comments were guesses about how effective this setup would be.

So, does anyone have a brake equalizer in use with small rear drums AND using lined brake shoes?

Is it worthwhile? Would you do it again?

Thanks

Bud,

A couple of threads about actuators. Models NRS have both a pedal parking brake and pedal transmission brake (high and low are by lever) and I always use the park brakes (same setup as T brakes) to stop with. I feel the stopping is better and no wear and tear on the transmission.

I have equalizers on both cars and they are far easier to stop than with just the transmission brake. Both cars are 26's so they have the large lined brake shoes unlike your car. I don't know how well they would work on a small drum rear end with lined shoes but it will definitely be an improvement. Don't use the return springs. They make the pedal way too hard to push.
