I came home with a couple of unusual items, and here's the first.
OK, experts, what's the purpose of a Model A water outlet with a spark plug in it.?
Pre-Heater for cold climates?
Steve, I'm far from being an expert but I would say the previous owner didn't have a 1/2 pipe plug so he used what he had.
When you were in the Army, they called that "Field expedience". It's also known by several other names.

When you told me about that yesterday I didn't realize you had bought it. It probably was attached to the tail pipe with a fuel line in front of it and a T coil to spark the plug. That would shoot a trail of fire out the exhaust.
Steven
Actually I didn't buy it. It was in a pile of stuff Mark bought and he gave it to me.
Here's another unusual item I did buy. In a box of miscellaneous other stuff was this porcelain timer.
There's no brand name on it, but a patent date of 4-28-21. It was inspected by #9 and OK'd by #15, and it's supposed to be packed with light cup grease. That's all I know about it. Anybody have more information on it?
I have the utmost confidence in #9 and #15. I have never known them to be wrong in their judgment....
But you have to watch out for that crazy #8!
Hi Jay
If we change your patent date a little (remember it must be a Tuesday) I come up with the following . . .
Clarence H. Walker
Larchmont, New York
Commutator
Patent number: 1375945
Filing date: Oct 30, 1919
Issue date: Apr 26, 1921

Geez, that timer even has a viewfinder to watch all the fun!
First item is just an afterburner - some folks will try just about anything to win a Montana 500 !!

My first thought on the first item. The neck was on a model A that had an after-market water-core type heater in it. They were somewhat common around WWII. The spark plug was probably used to plug the hole when the heater sprung a leak.
The timer? NEAT! Never seen one like that.
Drive carefully, and enjoy, W2
Ok, So how i know what to make a pretend newday timer from. Now i just need to find a potter with a kiln...
