Pulled the valve cover off my '23 engine today and found this. This engine was the original engine in my car but has been sitting unused since about 1930. I managed to get the gasket out in one piece and am going to frame it for the shop. Perhaps a common finding, but i like it.
That's way cool. Glad you plan to display it. A great piece of history.
Possibly the box or envelope an engine gasket set came in? Obviously screwed up the VC gasket if it is!
Charlie,
It could have been the box but I don't think so. Its cut perfectly for the hole and it is made of cork. I think they just printed the gasket list on it. At any rate it was neat to find it there.

If its a factory made gasket itll have a drain hole(s) on the bottom to drain any oil that migrates between the gasket and the cover from the throttle rod... ws
