Does anyone know where I can still buy the old style hose clamps that have been around forever? The T sizes are A-15, and A-12. I have purchased clamps from two well known vendors, and although their stuff is adequate for most people, I DON'T LIKE THEM! Why do people always have to change stuff that is ok already?

"Why do people always have to change stuff that is ok already?" I couldn't agree with you more.

Larry,

I am with you. My problem with the vendor supplied clamps is that the plating lasts maybe a couple of seasons before deteriorating to a grey mess, then finally to a rusty mess. I don't want to use worm gear clamps because they look so out of place

The old-style brass hose clamps can cost almost $50 a piece from Restoration Supply. Anyone ever made their own? They don't look very complex.

Bad news. I recalled the company who makes the hose clamps, so I sent them an email. They replied that they no longer make them in the original style, so that is why I haven't been able to find them. I'll have to get some old ones replated I guess. Why do they have to do this, and why can't the vendors make them correctly?

Today is sort-and-put-away day, and I just came across some older hose clamps and thought of this thread. Here are some pictures of the kind clamp I found, compared to the current type. Is this any closer to the original clamps?

No comment? I was hoping somebody could tell whether this older clamp (the smaller, darker one) is close to correct. So far I haven't found a good picture of an original. Anyone have one to post so we all know what we're looking for?

I'd use it. Looks close enough to me. Hose clamps would have had some variation due to different suppliers.
