I was asked to bring my car to a local car show yesterday. It was only about three miles away, so I went. I was the only one to have a real model T among the rat rods and mustangs, but I expected that. It was held at the local Harley-Davidson Dealers parking lot and sponsored by a local oldies rock and roll radio station. I took my nephew Joe along as co-pilot. It ended up he was also the photographer.
While standing in front of my car, look who walked by. Dennis Gage from the TV show My Classic Car. We had a brief visit, talked about the car and I got his autograph.
There was one other spectator there who stayed around and asked a lot of questions. He told me that he thought my car was the best thing at the show. I had the motorcycle crowd looking so I demonstrated the free start option on a model T. A couple of guys accused me of having hidden a starter on it as I actually got it to start about a dozen times in a row!
While there I got a phone call from a friend to tell me about another car show about two miles from home that I hadn't heard about. That one was almost on the way home so we called my brother to meet us for lunch near it at a Taco Bell. As I pulled into the parking lot someone followed us in with a smile on his face all excited about seeing the car and wanted to know if he could take a picture of it and use it on his Facebook page.
Guys, I did what I could yesterday as an ambassador for the hobby
Great!
Did they film you with Dennis?
I have the dvr set to capture his pgm, and FF or delete most.
Sorry to say I didn't even make the cutting room floor, as Dennis was all alone on Saturday without any camera man.
