I'm new to the T world. I have my great grandad's Model T that was passed to my grandad, & now on to me. It has been sitting for the past 8 years or so before I had it moved to my house after he passed away. Before hand he had driven into a storage container where it sat for a number of years. The motor still moves freely by the hand crank. What all should I do before I attempt to start it? I'm thinking new oil, battery, & clean the fuel tank. What else should I do so that I don't cause any damage?
Thanks for any advice
here's a link to a great article on taking your T out of mothballs'

This has been posted before, but I've had no luck trying to find it. My copy and paste version ended up with spaces between all the letters, making it a little tough to read. Maybe somebody has a copy that hasn't been "edited" in cyber space. If nobody comes up with it I can email you the "spaced out" version.
Here's a forum post that includes the Towe Museum instructions. Maybe a little easier to read than the photobucket jpegs. I still can't get a decent copy.

Driving a T down a quiet country road is worth a million bucks! Driving one that your great Grampa had.... PRICELESS!!! Mack, you are lucky!
I changed the oil in the T last night & am going to take off the gas tank tonight to clean it. I see some surface rust on the inside so I want to get that taken care of. I also have some surface rust on the underside of the frame and body. Any suggestions of the best way to treat these? I've been told POR 15, but didn't know if there was anything else out there
