I lost the bed plates for my 10T press. Does any one out there have extras? (they'er the plate you put stuff on to press sleeves etc. and there are two of them.)s They may also be called arbor plates.

Were you swimming with them? I should think they were heavy enough, not to walk to far away

Call up your steel plate supply and have a pair burned out to suit your press. The ones on my 25 ton are 1 1/2" thick.

Hal, I didn't loose mine... I broke one! I discovered that a 12 ton jack can be used to get maybe 5 tons of force if you put all your weight onto the handle (I can get a little more because I am significantly heavier than you!). With the 12 T air over hydraulic jack I dropped into my 12 T press I can run it up to 12 T easily... Not only did I end up breaking my press plate, I bent the press! A Chinese press is really only designed to push around 4 tons. You are safe up to about 6 or 8 tons if you replace the hardware with grade 8 stuff.

The reason for my reply is to say I've been trying to find replacement press plates and Harbor Freight will NOT sell them separately. They only sell them with the press. So I need go find someplace to make me a set also.

If anyone has a source I would like to hear. Otherwise the nearest plate metal source to me is down near you in Sacramento, Hal. If you are having a set cut out let me know, I'd like to have a set made for me also.

Terry

Terry,
Just out of curiosity, how much is a "Harbor Freight" press like yours?
Drive carefully, and enjoy, W2

Hi Hal
Some suggestions . . .

handsontools at http://tinyurl.com/754lj8m

http://www.gregsmithequipment.com/20-Ton-Press-Plates-2

http://www.onlinemetals.com/

Try local suppliers like ABC Supply for short ends or cut offs, and
some recyclers will still sell small new or used sorts to the public,
although our local scrappers no longer will.
The first two are the lowest priced that I found,
but shipping could be a deal breaker.

Others were priced at 'Gold Bar' equivalents.

Regards
Art
