Hello, I continue my quest to restore my 1914 Ford Touring and have many questions as I proceed step by step so thanks in advance for your time spent answering my questions. I have two more for you: First, I have pressed a new brake cam bushing and am ready to attach the new brake cam and have noticed some wear on the differential housing from the old cam. Would it be ok to place a thin shim washer between the brake cam and the housing so that it would have a smooth surface to ride on? The second question is regarding the use of safety wire on the ring gear bolts, do I need to use a special kind of wire or can I use "Galvanized Steel Wire, 16 Gauge and rated at a safe work load of 55 Lbs? Thanks again to everyone for your advice and help. John

I have used 1/2 inch machine washers there to take up sideways slop. Have had no problems doing it. I would stick with the SS aircraft safety wire.
