The throttle lever on my 15 touring has an annoying habit of creeping up slowly and requiring frequent adjustment.
The spring for the throttle rod seems fine but close inspection shows that the underside of the lever where it contacts the notches on the quadrant is worn and rounded.
I know removal of the throttle lever/rod is going to be a pain. Has anyone found a simple solution to this problem?
Thanks

Langs sells a wood block that clamps around the rods and steering shaft to prevent the levers from creeping. http://www.modeltford.com/item/3524-25T.aspx

OR, you can just ever so slightly prise open the rod away from the steering column below the springs, this stops the creep upward too.
On my original, unrestored 27TT I just used a pair of visegrips to gently bend the thin metal quadrant to put more pressure on the lever. It took three adjustments over the width of the quadrant to get constant pressure.

Or take a small tricorner file to the quadrant & make the indents...... deeper !
Years and years ago someone used heavy string and wrapped around both rods all away around the steering tube. A tight wrap. It pulls both rods toward the steering tube (center).
It has been there a long time. The wrapping is about 1 1/2 inches wide.
It is wrapped about 8" down from the firewall
Good ideas all!
Thanks for the suggestions..

I was able to pull my rods far enough from the quadrant to be able to weld a small bead on the contact area and then used a 90deg. air sander to bring the bead to a point. Still working on my touring after 4+ years.

I like it, but doubt my welding skills are up to it. Would probably weld the throttle lever to the quadrant!
But you've given me an idea. I thinking a small drill bit (because they're hard) JB Welded to the underside of the lever (and in line with it) would provide the perfect surface to lodge in the groves in the quadrant.
My JB Weld skills are very good!
Thanks for the idea.

Stretch out the springs as much as it takes to make them pull enough on the levers to hold them fast and tight against the quadrant. Jim Patrick
Here is a real throttle creep !!
Sorry ... couldn't resist

I use a strip of duct tape on the quadrants for parades etc. Best cure is pull the rods, weld a new edge on each lever, file the quadrants so that each groove is as deep as can be, then file the edges on the levers so that each lever can "click" on each quadrant groove.
