Does anyone know anything about the fender braces on the front of my '24 Touring Car? How about the rear toolbox and brace for it? I know that they were aftermarket, but that's about it. Come to think of it, I'm not even certain about that!

I'm just asking because I just purchased this car and I would like to know more about it what's on it, what's original, etc. I think that I have pretty much all of it figured out except for these two things. I've been working on Ts for several years, but this is the first one that I've actually purchased.

Cameron,
Nice car! Congratulations.
It sounds like you basically have this part figured out also. The front fender brace is higher than most where it crosses the radiator. I think it looks better than most. They were made by many companies and individuals. They were sold both mail-order and in local supply stores. Who built it does not matter. Unless you plan to restore the car to how it left the factory, they look good (as long as they are reasonably straight, and yours looks great).
The luggage rack with a tool box on it is much more unusual. I have only seen a few original era luggage racks on cars of the model T era. I have one, but have never had a car I wanted it on. They are rare.
Drive carefully, and enjoy, W2

Thanks for the info! When I restore my car, I plan on keeping both of them. Besides, how often does a toolbox come in handy on a T?

Cameron,
Why would you restore that car--it looks great--well, ok, the top appears to have a few problems!

Restore my car?

What's wrong with it? I'd venture to say that not many cars survive nearly 9 decades in such a good condition. Most cars are on the boneyard at age 15.

First time I saw this fender brace was about 10 minutes ago on T-Bay. . check this out. I'd say this is a must, to go with your new toy. . I have no affiliation with the ad, just immediately thought of it after seeing your pictures.

Often enough to make it worth having.

Cameron, if you click on my name you'll see a different style brace on my unrestored car. Funny thing Model T's, as an attention hound people gyrate to my car over a restored one. They can't believe it made 90+ tears. My rear fenders have been welded with I swear coat hangers.
You have a nice looking car. The biggest bonus other than stealing the "show" is you don't have to worry about the paint if you carry a rattle can of black with you. When people ask if they can take a picture of the car I tell them hop in and I'll snap the picture. They are amazed I would let them sit in the car. I just tell them it's made 90 you won't hurt it.
