Yep !!, thats about all this question is ....SAFETY... but like most, l start the car on the battery and then switch over to the mag when l climb in, so... for a safety question, l know l can just simply hook a RED LED strobe/rear flashing warning light up the battery, but then l need to both switch it on and off ( l know thats not hard to do, but sometimes we forget ), but if its hooked up via the Magneto, anytime the engine is running, the rear strobe warning light she's a flashin...
Will it work ???

David.

I wouldn't do it that way, here's why.
I'm sure your flasher is designed to work on 12 VDC.
The magneto is designed to put out between 20-30 AC. While there may be some circuitry in the flasher to handle slightly hgher voltage spikes, its doubtful if it could handle that much for any period of time.
The simplest way I can think of to do what you want is a 24 v low current relay with the coil hooked from the magneto to ground. That way the relay would latch in whenever the magneto is running and you can use the contacts on the relay to hook your flasher to the battery.

OR ... if you could figure a way to put a switch under the front seat such that your weight when sitting would press the switch and turn on the flasher. OR a switch attached to the brake lever, so when its released the flasher would start!

Sorry to be so long winded, but I love projects like this!

If your ever in Florida, come knock me up!

Cheers
Bud
