I've seen many posts about packing timers with red grease, but none have referred to the New Day timer.

Has anyone done this with their New Day and if so with what results?

Thanks
schuh

I run my New Day timers dry. They don't need any grease. Be sure you have a good seal on the camshaft.

Hi Schuh,

The New Day timer should be run dry, no lubricant. Take it off every couple of hundred miles to clean it, but No lubricant. I have one on one of my cars and I am very happy with it's operation.

I have a roller timer on my other car. I am happy with it as well.

Good luck with your project. Bill

The moving contact in a new Day timer is a carbon brush, like the ones used in generators and motors. I've heard that the replacement brushes currently being sold are less than wonderful, and that a better replacement is a generator brush filed to fit.

All of my New Day timers have brass brushes. Never seen one with a carbon brush.
