Hi everyone,

can someone please tell me the thread on the outlet of the sediment bowl that the packing nut goes onto for the fuel line ? Suspect NPT of some sort ?
I done a quick forum search but to no avail...

Regards,

Bede

A 1/4 pipe coupling will screw right on there.

I believe they are 1/4" NPS thread.

N = National
P = Pipe
S = Straight

1/4 NPS ?

Thanks Royce. I'll see if I can track down a die that size and see if I can recover the threads on a couple of sediment bowls I'm working on.

Cheers

Bede

Bede, I don't know about N.Z., but over here we have thread files that will take care of your problem very easily. They have many thread pitches and are very handy to have. Just a thought. Dave

Dave,

you are dead right. It's just the problem of finding someone who has one, and they are too much $$$ for me to buy one outright for the use I would get from it. We strike more BSP in NZ than SAE pipe gear, however I have found a 1/4 NPT die today so once I prize myself away from this computer I might go out into the shed and have a play.

Thanks mate for your suggestion.

Bede

Bede, check out Royce's post. You don't want a 1/4 NPT die, you need a 1/4 NPS die. Dave

David,

you are dead right again. However, by carefully using the narrower side of the tapered die and running it on "backwards" I was able to make the thread good enough that the nut will go on ok.

I'll keep my eye out for a 1/4 NPS die at swapmeets.

Thanks for your help.
