Im in need of two tires for my 23TT 4.20x32 is whats on the truck now...what are my options?
Thanks Wick
Fred -- I built a TT a couple of years ago and used 5.00 x 23 Excelsior tires from Universal.
Fred, I am not familiar with that the tire size you show, but there were two common sizes used on TT trucks. 32 X 4 1/2 used a 23" rim and the other size used a 20" rim. Yours is probably a 23" rim.
Rim size is easy to measure. Measure from where the bead seats onto the rim too the other side where the tire seats. (same point as if you were measuring the inside of the tire off the rim)
Dang . . . I hate it when you're ready to leave on a nice Sunday afternoon drive, only to notice that you overlooked that you need tires!
I will measure the rims...23" sounds right.
Fred, My '22 TT had 32X4 1/2 tires the later size ('25 on) was 33X5 (not interchangeable) If the rims measure 23", then you will need 32 X 4 1/2.
John,
The 32 x 4 1/2 and the 33 x 5 should be interchangeable. Here's the math:
4 1/2 x 2 = 9 subtracted from 32 = 23" rim
5 x 2 = 10 subtracted from 33 = 23" rim
The diameter of the tires is 1" different, but the rim size is the same.
