This is a fascinating story of 8 men who were the only combat troops to actually fight on the Japanese homeland itself in WW II.

This is from an old Navy buddy, Ed.
Ed and I were in the same Corsair Naval Air Fighter Squadron aboard the USS MIDWAY in 1947.(do the math)

Neat photo of the USS St Louis, a light cruiser, steaming out of the harbor getting ready to pass the USS California which has it's canopy rigged for Sunday morning service. The California is "sunk" in the mud. The St Louis ("Lucky Lou") was the first "capitol" ship to make it all the way out that morning. All the smoke is coming from the USS Arizona and USS West Virginia. You can also see the overturned hull of the USS Oklahoma (I think).
The really neat part is that my dad is on the St Louis and my wife's dad is on the California. Both men survived the war, but sadly, they're both gone now. God bless them and all our military heroes!!!!!!!
