Is there a shop that will re silver the reflectors and do a nice job? I remember a post some time ago and most were not happy with the shops today compared to the work done years ago? I would like to have a pair re silvered if you have had a good job done let us know where to send them and about what you paid for the work. Thanks!

Dave:

Call Tom Tarnow at Alchemy Mirror Resilvering in St. Paul:

651-641-1125

He resilvers glass mirrors of all types and I believe he has done a few glass reflectors for acetylene automobile lamps. He did a restoration clinic for the Horseless Carriage Club a few years ago.

I believe he is the only person in the Twin Cities re-silvering mirrors. Ask him for references regarding reflector resilvering to see if they are satisfied with his work.

I talked to my dad this morning.

In the past, he had all his resilvering done by Brin Northwestern Glass Company in Minneapolis. They've been in business since 1912.

I didn't see any information on resilvering on their website but they do manufacture custom and beveled mirrors.

It's worth giving them a call. If they don't do resilvering any more, they can probably refer to someone that does in the Twin Cities area.

Dave Baker is interested in re-silvering glass reflectors. Not silver plating brass reflectors.

Also - he lives just south of Minneapolis so I referred him to places in the area.

Erik in Minneapolis
