Optics, just look down about 10 or 15 post and the answer to your question is looking at you. (photos)
That running board rack is the most common one and positively used on model T cars. It is also found at a lot swap meets. (apparently a lot of these were made and often can be found for $15 to $25 dollars)

OOPS, I think I misread. Often some leather suit cases also show up at swap meets and the post I referred to above shows some baskets that were uses back in the T days.
Also some metal suit cases with trim around the edges date way back.

Watch for stuff like this at estate sales and farm auctions. It would be a good idea to have a canvas tarp to put over them in bad weather.

Here are a couple we use. Leather suitcases were pretty cheap 20 years ago.

Most antique malls in this area generally have some old suitcases in one or more booths.
