Today I got the summer cars out, dusted them off, polished brass, serviced, inspected and basically got them all ready for summer fun! All are ready to drive on tours or whatever comes our way. Are you ready?
1914 Roadster, 1917 Speedster, 1924 Touring, The Tudor has been tucked away in the shop for the summer.
Yes, Just not as ready as you (obviously) are!
Nice looking cars Mike. I would say summer is here.
We hit 100 degrees yesterday. It's time to find some shade when it's hot and get out in the cars early morning and later in the evening around here.
Enjoy your summer!
Orlando
Orlando,
We were near 100 today. I hope June tour in Lincoln is not this hot.
Mike, if yours are all ready, I'll bring one over to work on if your bored .
Also, our 09 left this afternoon for Montana. One tire was flat, and we blew out two tubes "fixing" it. I'm trying to replenish fluids now!
Rob
I kind of had some incentive to get them ready. I had a reporter come over to do a story on the national tour next month. I gave him choice of any of the cars for a ride. He was a fairly young guy, his choice was the 14. He thought about the speedster but the 14 lured him in.
Orlando - It was warm here today also but it is supposed to cool off next week. Thanks for the compliment.
Rob - You have to be the worlds most experienced Model T tire changer. All of the experience gained this spring. What does that make about 25 tires in the past month?
Wow, it's green there!!! I went to an auction today on the other side of McDonald Pass. There were winter weather advisories for blowing and drifting snow and they were right. It was blowing and drifting on the pass. It never got above about 37 at the auction and was drizzling and spitting snow all afternoon. It is 35 out right now and spitting snow at my house. Our trees are just starting to leaf out and the grass is coming in the fields now. People are dusting off their lawn mowers and getting ready for summer.
Where is your 09 going in Montana, Rob???
Stan - The corn around our house grew 2" today! We have had an unbelievable spring this year. I will cut my 2nd cutting of alfalfa next week. Normally we would just now be cutting our 1st cutting. My fruit trees are loaded. Last year I got 2 pears and 5 apples.
Stan,
A fellow who intends to start a Model T museum at some point. I think he said he now has every year exec
T 10 and 11.
How is the K carb coming along? Dean is hoping to have the motor running soon ( using the Schebler carb).
Mike,
Your right, I think I've changed quite a few lately. Used ones sure slip off and on easily when it's over 95 degrees .
Rob
According to the weather forecast we may be shoveling snow in the morning. I did get some work done on the T today though, but not as much as I had hoped.
Mike, the cars look great. Your way ahead of me.
John - Yuk, it's too late in the year to be shoveling snow!
Mike,
Nice looking photo of your family on your profile. I own a '24 Touring just like yours. I also have a '21 Runabout. I sure like those brass headlamps and radiator on your '14.
Orlando
Stan and John - Here is another shot I took today with more greenery. I intended to look at this photo to make me feel better next winter when I'm shoveling snow. So I'll let you guys use it now, you just won't have to wait as long till it starts getting a little warmer in Montana!
Orlando - The picture on my profile was taken in your neck of the woods last fall. We did a trip in the mountains of Colorado and New Mexico. That picture was taken on top of Cubres Pass just north of Chama, elevation just over 10,000 feet. That is my wife and grand-daughter.
I've been working on the boat-tail all week. At least some, lots of family interruptions. Among a few other things, I am installing new (original after-market) brakes. They should be nice.
I better get more time in on it, though. the Endurance Run is in less than two weeks.
Mike, Those cars are looking good!
Drive carefully, and enjoy, W2
Good Grief! It was 91 up here in Hoosierville yesterday! Excuse me for being naive but except for a time back in 65 at Chanute AFB In Illinois (in the winter), I've never lived in the north. This 100+ year old house doesn't have those 2 words that no self respecting Floridian lives without, you know, 'air conditioning'? Sure wish I had 'Lizzie' up here with me to drive around I saw something that looked like a REO yesterday but other than that, I haven't seen any old cars on the road?
Oh well, I'll probably be heading back down to 'Hurricane Central' by Wed.
