Those darn new fangled motor machines, speeding up to 15 miles an hour in town, no wonder they lost control! That never happened when I used my horse and buggy!

I bet they made a quick trip to the outhouse.

I should have written the header " Time to check your shorts!" or "Trou inspection"

Looks like the guard rail was built with horse and buggies in mind not the newfangled automobile.

It's just as easy to lose control of horses, they say.

Not a Ford, maybe a 1909 Oakland? Driver probably had to change his pants!

Run away teams were a common danger, it has not been that long ago that a run away team with a buggy killed at least one person during a parade, I do not think that a Ford ever killed any one during a parade!

PS in Idaho there is a $85 fine for texting while driving as of July 1st, if any one gets arrested for drinking and driving, this will make it possible to get away from the $350 to $3500 fine for DUI, as texting is statistically more dangerous than driving drunk, and if the penalty is more for the lessor crime, it violates the constitutional right to equal protection under the law.

My great uncle Giuseppe Ambortore (he was Italian too :-)) was killed by a runaway horse in 1913 in San Jose, CA. Things did happen to folks then just as things happen today, only some are different things.

So many people suffered all their lives from falling from horses, being rolled over on by a horse and kicked by horses.
When I was about 3 a horse reached over the feeder and picked me up by my shoulder.

My mother claimed he head aches started from falling from a horse and hitting her head on a rock.
A brother-in law was riding a horse that fell and rolled over on him. That bothered him most of his life.

My great grand father Joseph Emanuel Nelson was killed near Lincoln Nebraska when his horse and wagon was "upset" when a "large yellow automobile" startled his horse. So the letter goes from my Swedish great grand mother to her relatives in Kansas. Darn automobiles!

Wife's great grandfather was thrown into a creek from a horse outside Mt. Morris, Ill, in the winter of 1870, and died from pneumonia after walking home.

A shirttail cousin was killed when his head collided with his horse's neck in a rodeo in about 1910.

The problem with horses now are the mustangs and pet horses people set free in the mountains and desert. About 100,000 are hauled to Mexico every year for butchering and sale of the meat to other countries. It's again legal to butcher horses here, but the protestors are stopping USDA from the issue of permits due to "lack of trained inspectors." A butcher in Roswell was on tv the other day venting his frustration.

Too large to be a Model 10 Buick. Also I don't think the Model 10 ever had rear fenders that look like those.

About 5 years ago a very prominent woman in our town was out in a horse and buggy. The horse and buggy came home without her. She was found dead on the road. It was thought that she was thrown out and the horse found it's way home without her. She was a good friend and we are sorry she died a premature death. She was familiar with horses, her husband was a vetrinarian. (spell check does nothing for me, because it does not tell me the correct spelling of the word) vet.

Rick’s mentioning the butchering of horses reminds me of the butcher who backed up into his meat grinder and got a little behind in his orders.

If I had to guess, by the body and front and back fenders, I might be tempted to say it is an EMF.

You know,I was haveing a bad day yesterday with my dizzy spells and I just road along with my dad on 1 of few trips I make to walmart.
While there I was useing the buggy to prop on and walk along and a fellow was texting and walking and slammed right into my buggy.
I jokeingly ask my dad," I wonder if he does that while he is haveing relations"?
Well,Turns out, with a google search, about 10% of people under 25 think it is perfectly ok to text while haveing relations.
That is just dumbfounding.Cant put a phone down long enough for that!???
No wonder you cant git the durn fools to stop doing it while they are driveing.
