Wish they were still 90 cents a set!
Great stuff Anything inside?
I'll stop at my local Ford dealer's and pick up a set.
The parts guy at the Ford dealer will not be able to find it on his shelf because there is no USP bar code.
Yes, the bands are a creamy white color. Very tight weave, and quite hard.
Guess who ever used this box didn't need to change the reverse band lining
Original Ford cotton lining.
Comparison of Kevlar, Ford cotton and gummy Scandinavian linings.
I love how the price is printed on the box. Henry even had price control of replacement parts
Question; Are the Ford lingings the correct length? I think they should be around 24".
I have some of the old back in the day brands such as Wards and I forget the others as they are in my shop. But they always seem to have the lingings cut a little to short. One set the longest linging was 23".
I had 3 sets of good cotton lingings and used the longest out of each box to come up with a compltete "long enough set".
Seems like the old Scandanavia sometimes had some short lingings also from time to time.
Original Scandinavias are 23 & 1/2" in length. When Cantex Corp. took over, they initially kept the same length as originals but then reduced the length by 1" which does not allow for any overhang at the ends of the steel band where you want some extra.
Originals were advertised as 23" long, 1 1/8" wide and 5/32" thick.
The Ford transmission band lining noted in Sept '12 Parts Book
#3416 Transmission Band Lining : 23" long x 1 1/16" wide x 5/32" thick
I have a box even older than that one. I would assume it is from the teens, judging from the Ford script.
I have some stock of mostly original Scandinavias with a few of the earlier, longer Cantex Corp. sets. All are 23 & 1/2" in length so perhaps as advertised in the early Ford Owner magazine, they were a minimum of 23". Also attached is the earliest Ford script lining box I have - I do not believe the box shown above by Dan was "authentic" Ford lining as Ford appeared to be rather keen on using their own script to prevent "copycat" or spurious, as was the term widely used. I have several of that type also and no place on the box does it state " Ford Motor Company" - just an observation.
