Very interesting nobody has put anything on here.
I am in the middle of my 26 now and have the top wood, headliner and top done now and am working my way down on the interior.

The wood needs to be done and fit first. You need to wrap the perimiter wood with your fabric before the headliner, then the headliner, then bolt the wood onto the car then bows then the top material.

I left the top fabric about an inch long and loosened the top from the car one side at a time and tucked the top material under the wood and tightened it back up so you cant see any of the wood.

I think it turned out good but of course there are a couple of things I would do a little different.

If you need some pictures I can take them of mine. I just looked at a couple different cars in the area and asked one of our guys how he did it and then did it my way...

I have seen Car Touch interiors and they look good to me but I like to do my own so it is taking longer but that is what is fun in the end.

There is a book called the Model T Restoration Handbook by Leslie Henry, that has been around since at least the 1960's. In it, he photo documents the restoring of a 26-27 coupe. There are other books on upholstery that are available from the the vendors, but this is the only one that specifically deals with that model and body style, that I know of. I am not a professional upholster or paint and body man, thus I bough a Cartouche kit and had a professional, install it in mine. He made everything fit, but he said some things just weren;t right with the kit. and he has installed a lot of them and LeBarron Bonney kits, too, so he should know.

George,
Before you install the top material you will need to do the headliner.
Here is a kink that will explain it all. Best regards, John

Does anyone have a clear picture of this "shelf" some speak of when attaching the headliner and sides. Some learned folks believe the sides and headliner are attached to the metal and the wood top frame sits on top of that.

The "shelf" is a rabbitted edge around the top wood. If memory serves (danger) it is about 1/2" wide 3/16" deep.
